SACRAMENTO – The bodies of two unidentified men were found Saturday afternoon in a flooded homeless camp along the bank of the American River in Sacramento.

One body was found floating and the other submerged in what appeared to be a flooded area, but authorities could not say if their deaths were weather-related until a cause of death is determined.

Neither death appeared suspicious, said Sacramento Police Lt. James Hose.

The Coroner's Office had not identified them by late Saturday.

One body was found inside a tent and the other nearby in the camp between the river and Northgate Boulevard near Highway 160, Hose said.

Others in the camp had left because of the severe storms and had warned the two men to leave, Hose said. When they were missed at Loaves & Fishes, the Sacramento homeless agency, someone checked on them and discovered one of the bodies, he said.

A dive team was called in to recover the second body.
