The folks working to incorporate Arden Arcade, or Arden as I would hope the new city is eventually named, will be taking their presentation around the area to help educate the community about their important work.
Carlos Alcalá: Cityhood bid goes to the people

Around Arden Arcade: Incorporation efforts are hitting the road. Not leaving town, just going on the move around Arden Arcade to bring their campaign to the people who will vote on it. The latest stop, at Arcade Library last week, showed a well-prepared and well- spoken group of six pro-cityhood advocates. And a rather small turnout. Of the 21 present, six were the presenters, at least two were journalists and at least one was a Citrus Heights resident, leaving no more than a dozen resident listeners. (Next meeting is Jan. 8 at the Arden-Dimick Library.) The city advocates talked about all the big issues – taxes, police services, representation – plus the silly question we raised way back in January: what to call the new city? "Our No. 1 comment is they don't like the name (Arden Arcade)," incorporation leader Joel Archer said. But that's small potatoes, apparently. If and when it becomes a city, the name can be worked out then, he said. "If the people don't like it (Arden Arcade), it can be changed." ... Oddly, they have a flashier name for the part of Arden left out of city plans. They're calling that slice between Fair Oaks Boulevard and the river SOFO, for south of Fair Oaks. Why not SOFA? Seems like a comfy place to live. ...
