Why the fuss over Clarksburg?

Re "In harm's way?" editorial, Nov. 6: I, for one, am sick and tired of hearing about the risk of development in Clarksburg. If the risk is so high, when will The Bee and others call for total relocation of the current residents? Are we not in danger or does the danger only begin when building starts?

If you read the Delta Protection Act, you, like most people, may find that these old buildings and strip of land do not fit the intent of the legislation. The legislation is intended to protect agricultural land from development, not industrial property from revitalization. No farmland will be destroyed.

No one seems to notice or care that Isleton is clearing land for 400 homes right behind the levee. Where is the outcry? Where are the caring groups worrying about the loss of life?

Prior to the Old Sugar Mill project, this was a blighted property headed for a rendezvous with a wrecking ball. The current owners have taken an important part of Clarksburg's past and are saving it. We will also get badly needed housing in the process.
