Cityhood Fees

With the resistance to yet another incorporation which will continue the long slow drain on the county funding base—ominous news for the Parkway already short $1.5 million annually and needing another $8.5 million annually for ten years to catch up—this new city struggles to be born.

Annexation to the existing city of Sacramento still looks to be the best option.

Advocates of Arden Arcade's incorporation drive will need to raise more money to cover the cost of a cityhood study under a new payment arrangement approved by a local intergovernmental agency.

Sacramento's Local Agency Formation Commission voted unanimously May 2 to split the total cost with proponents, agreeing to pay up to $100,000.

An environmental impact report and a comprehensive fiscal analysis will make up the bulk of total expenses, between $220,000 and $330,000.

Previously, cityhood backers had said they were required to pay only for the environmental impact report, estimated to cost between $100,000 and $150,000.
