The Sacramento Zoo is one of our models of a local public resource being managed by a nonprofit organization—which is what we call for to be done with the Parkway—and this is the type of fund development a nonprofit can do effectively and consistently that the current government Parkway management entity cannot.
Event boosts giraffe fund

A recent fundraising event for the Sacramento Zoo brought in more than $105,000 for the new giraffe exhibit.
Proceeds from Saturday's 12th annual "Wild Affair," coupled with previous fundraising efforts, have brought the total raised for the giraffe exhibit project to $330,000. The project is estimated to cost $1.5 million, according to a zoo news release.
