Potomac Gorge, America’s Wildest Urban River

This is a notice from The Nature Conservancy about an area I had never heard of before this. From my limited travels I have always remembered the Potomac as the calm, big, and very muddy river that flowed past Mount Vernon.

But another Potomac exists…and that's a very good thing.

An excerpt.

Protecting Americas's Wildest Urban River
From Floods to Flowers in the Potomac Gorge

This new exhibit at the United States Botanic Garden focuses on the natural beauty of the Potomac Gorge and what is being done to save it, and its vital resources, for future generations.

The exhibit will be on display from July 22 to November 19, 2006.
