If you volunteer make sure you are on the buddy system, or have park rangers nearby (if they aren't on strike) in the Lower Reach as it is a little dangerous down there, particularly lately with the two bodies being recently discovered.

The 28th annual Great American River Clean Up is set for 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 16. Volunteers are needed to help clean the American River and the American River Parkway from Discovery Park to Nimbus Dam and along Lake Natoma starting from Negro Bar.
