PORTOLA -- Two state scientists who have been working to control northern pike in Lake Davis made presentations this week at the International Northern Pike Symposia.

Ed Pert, project manager for the California Department of Fish and Game's pike eradication project, and Julie Cunningham, an environmental scientist in the department's Portola office, were among scientists sharing information about northern pike as part of the American Fisheries Society's 136th annual meeting in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Their presentations included the history of northern pike in California since the 1800s, and lessons learned by the department since 1988, when pike were first reported in Plumas County's Frenchman Lake.
