Sacramento in Top Ten

A nice notice for our fair city and the Parkway, as run down as it is becoming, is still partly to thank for its high ranking.

Report: Sacramento a top 10 'underrated' city

Sacramento is one of the United States' most underrated cities, according to a ShermanTravel report published on MSNBC.com.

The report placed Sacramento at No. 10 on its "must see" list of places not often considered tourist destinations. ShermanTravel cited Sacramento's "increasingly sophisticated food scene," "charms of Old Sacramento," American and Sacramento river bike trails and the Sierra Foothill wineries as reasons to visit. Celebrity Gov.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was also mentioned for his "magnetism."

'We hope this will help entice businesses who are looking for a place to expand or relocated their business: Our region is an ideal place not to just visit but also to open your business, live, work and raise a family," said Matt Mahood, president and chief executive officer of the Sacramento Metro Chamber.

To sum it up, MSNBC.com said, "this agricultural hub appeals to even the snobbiest city-slicker."

The ten underrated cities are, in order: Baltimore; Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Houston; Kansas City, Mo.; Louisville, Ky.; Minneapolis; Pittsburgh; Portland, Ore.; Providence, R.I.; and Sacramento.
