Family fun on the agenda at American River Confluence Festival
By: Michelle Miller, Journal Staff Writer

Have you called your mother lately? Mother Nature?

With the hectic pace of modern life, some may lack the time to connect with the environment and learn about its natural splendor.

But the 15th annual American River Confluence Festival promises many ways to learn about conservation, wildlife and local environmental issues.

Although the festival was once held at the confluence of the north and middle forks of the American River, for the last several years it has been held in the Overlook Park on Pacific Avenue in Auburn.

Organizers create a "river village" with food, booths, arts and crafts, music and more. There are also canyon hikes, bike rides and runs organized earlier in the day.
