He’s right, there is no surface water storage in this bond, and that makes it much less than adequate, as we still seek legislative leadership understanding the important role dams play in storage and safety.

Another View: No on 84: Too little oversight on water, park bonds

Since 1988, California voters have approved nearly $12 billion in funding for clean water, secure water, safe water, open space, habitat restoration, habitat acquisition, coastal protection and other seemingly worthy projects. However, of this amount, nearly 70 percent, or more than $8 billion, has been appropriated to projects and programs that do not impact water quality.
Unfortunately, Proposition 84, also called a "water bond," would not provide one new acre-foot of water for the people of California.
The authors did manage to set aside billions for bureaucratic studies and other frivolous projects, but they couldn't find a single penny to build any new surface water storage to meet the needs of our state's growing population.
