State officials on Friday announced that parts of Sacramento city and county have been redesignated enterprise zones that will continue to qualify for various business investment incentives through 2021.

Business, Transportation and Housing Agency Secretary Sunne Wright McPeak identified 23 distressed areas statewide that qualify as enterprise zones. The designation gives businesses investing in those areas hiring credits, sales tax credits and upfront deductions on some types of property, among other incentives.

California has 42 enterprise zones.

The Sacramento zones extend roughly from South Natomas at Interstates 5 and 80 to the Capital City Freeway, through Del Paso Heights and surrounding neighborhoods.
